How To Set A Rat Trap

  • Never place a rat trap in areas accessible to kids or pets

You will need:

  • Both of your hands free
  • A rat trap or a mousetrap
  • A metal pen

Before you set any rat trap or mousetrap, always hold the trap properly with your fingers on the trigger-side and away from the kill-zone.

While holding the rat trap properly, grab the spring and pull it back.

Gently move the trigger rod into place within the trigger. Allow some tension to remain.

Slowly remove your thumb from the spring. If you see or feel that the trigger-rod is not locked in the trigger, try resetting the trigger rod.

Carefully set the trap on the floor. Then gently and slowly push it with your pen against the wall. You want the kill-side against the wall.

If you need to reset or remove your rat trap, you can use your pen to do this.

While keeping your fingers away from the kill-zone, gently press down on the trigger with the pen. This will engage the trap so you can remove it or start all over.

Be prepared for it to snap loudly and possibly pop off the ground.
