Proper Raccoon Control

  1. Inspect. We identify raccoons and their damage. This requires a deep inspection and find out where the rodents are nesting and how they have gotten into the structure.
  2. Trapping. We then trap the rodents. With raccoons, we use a baited cage. Set the cages and monitor every couple of days. The return trips to monitor will show the level of activity and problem areas. Traps can be moved around to focus on the problem areas.
  3. Enclosure. After the trapping is well underway, we then enclose the structure. Enclosure is always be done along with trapping. We don't want to close raccoons up in your attic, they will get mad and tear the place up to get back out. We seal all roof vents, roof pipes, gable vents, and any other areas where they can enter. Steel wool, expanding foam, caulk, wire mesh, and some screws go a long way. Then, we trim back any trees 4 to 6 feet from the structure.
  4. Relocation. Any raccoons we catch are relocated to rural areas far from where they were trapped. If we don't move them far enough, they will just work their way back into your attic.
